It's not commonly known in the U.S. that International Women's Day is March 8, but it's a big event in some countries. And in some countries moms are just thrown into the mix, which is stirred up and comes out as a kind of Mother's Day. And why not? Who can deny that mothers are women?
I’m happy to have this opportunity to honor my own mother, who was born in this week in 1929. She gets this special mention because she was a good contributor to the baby boom in the , having added seven of us to the population between 1950 and 1964. Hardly a record, but nothing to sneeze at.
People were forever asking us if we were Catholic or Mormon—we were neither; my parents just liked having babies. Well, my MOM liked having babies. I think my dad mainly liked MAKING babies.
So here’s to you, Mom. Happy Birthday, Happy International Women’s Day, Happy somewhere-in-the-world Mother’s Day!
